Flight of the Bumblebee

Lit Up — April’s Prompt: Distraction

Photo by Carolien van Oijen on Unsplash

When the walls

Feel like

They are closing in

From all directions

The world can

Contract, constrict

Become suffocating

Hopeless

Unless, until

We lift up

Our eyes

And take notice

Of glimmers

Of freedom

All around

Inviting distraction

Beyond the walls

The bumblebee

Flits from flower to flower

Gathering nectar and spreading sunshine

Birds call

From branch to bush

Breaking the silence

With song

At night

The moon and stars

Remind us:

Walls are illusory

If we let our focus

Soften

We find we can see through

The veil

Find pleasure

Play

Possibility

Hope

We may even

Remember

That we too

Can spread sunshine wherever we go…
