The pause from which all becomes possible

I’ve taken a little break from writing over the last few weeks to sit in the pause that I talk about in the KOAN method: Breakthrough Leadership for a Divided World. I haven’t exactly been in a state of non-doing as I traveled to Vancouver in March for the B Corp Champions retreat, and to Mexico in April for a Transformational Women’s Retreat with the Luna Jiménez Institute for Social Transformation.

Both of these experiences were important opportunities to step out of the day-to-day and into a space of connection, reflection, and (comparative) calm from which new ideas and possibilities could be born.

In May, I gathered my leadership team at our Boulder, CO offices to weave those reflections into the future we are charting here. We’re actively in the process of implementing many of the principles and practices I have written about and worked with others on for so long:

  • Mentoring and coaching relationships to foster empathy and care
  • Governance practices that promote transparency and trust
  • A 4-day work week that allows for flexibility while fueling well-being
  • Hiring new roles and investing in growing our networks
